Those mining big tonnages (millions) can justify that sort of technology. Morning Star has barely produced a million tons over its 100 plus year life span. I repeat - its a high grade, narrow vein operation. Bulk mining (dilution) is a killer. Should anything worthwhile be found above the level of the underlay shaft it can adequately be handled by the main shaft.
