Yes I have but your brain is highly preconditioned so you don't appear to think logically: the telescope saw the ship in full at 40km but waves, mirage effect, opticals etc show your eye the ship is going down. But it's not, so there is no curvature when there should be. So the hi-tech telescope proves the sea is dead flat for 40km, period. Maybe a mariner can comment?
