Yes I have, there is a fairly distinct profile type and there has to be because as you point out, it takes a certain kind of person to pass through these beliefs unscathed by reality.
And I do understand that belonging is more important than the cold light of reality. They make it warm and safe, singularly eternal, loving and removed from the cut and thrust of life. It's very attractive except for all the street walking and digesting the sacred words of the Elders. The Jenny Craig of religion, all you will ever need straight from the Elders to you. Not a pesky private thought to get in the way.
