I think one main reason is lack of service and customer's poor shopping experience. This brings zero loyalty, go into Harvey Norman or JB and they come up to you and ask whether they can help, you go into Myer and you struggle to find someone to help. having a shareholder discount only brings a few on the register and has little profit for the store as margins are already squeezed
