CCE are in the enviable position of having one of the architects of the stand alone power system trial, as a project manager. This gives them nearly three years of experience in a field that has few players.
"Western Power's Tristy Fairfield said the utilities had spoken to customers in Ravensthorpe, Jerramungup and Ongerup about taking part.
"They need to just use their power as they would any other time, so using the equipment in the house - whether that's the televisions, the dryers etc and especially in the farming operation," she said.
She said they wanted to see if families could live a normal life off the grid.
"The importance for us in undertaking this pilot is that the customer experiences nothing different," she said.
"They still get the same bill from Synergy, they still use their power exactly the same, it's just that they are sourcing that electricity from somewhere else."
