I think there is great value in the COLORBOND® product and brand that the company stands behind with extended warranties. BlueScope continues to be invest in researching the latest technologies both with the metal coating base and the paints it uses and that rigorous testing of the end product continues. I think BlueScope know that they have to be the best at what they do to justify the premium and are trying to push that branding/quality globally. I suppose a brand can become too successful when the brand (COLOBOND) is referenced as a genetic term for the product. A lot of steel fencing is just called COLORBOND fencing these days however there is significant imported fencing product that is not BlueScope or COLORBOND®. I used genuine COLORBOND® fencing at my place ( 200m from a beach) about 20 years ago and it still looks pretty good ( minmal fading/ still straight etc) . My neighbour used an imported product on their other boundary around 15 years ago and most of the Rails are completely rusted out. I suppose you get what you pay for.
