kacy, I'd like more detail if you have it on "fake colorbond". I've been around a very long time in the steel market and I can tell you there were colorbond type products long before the Chinese crxx you are on about. As far as steel is concerned the Chinese were in fact a non entity 50 years ago apart from the very basics like HRC, reobars etc. It was the Japanese in fact who developed higher grade steels 50 years ago with spectacular success, and I mean things like electrical steel, stabilized CRC for very deep drawing, enamelling quality CRC, and as I recall "painted GI" which we know as Colorbond. Many of these were far superior to anything BHP group manufactured at the time - due mainly to the fact they could not be expected to make "everything" in a small steel mill in a small market like ours, and they hid behind high tariff walls anyway. Good riddance to them and we have a far greater business in BlueScope today.

Now if you say there is a lot of Chinese crxx fake colorbond product going into the US I'm sure you must have investigated that statement. As a BSL holder I would genuinely like to know more about that. Colorbond is a premium product in the roofing market where distributors talk about (and guarantee) very long service life. It is protected by patented technologies which apparently make it a lot higher quality than just "painted galvanized iron"! - although I'm curious how those patents have not run out by now. Only a few years ago an Australian ex BSL employee was threatened with extreme legal action after she foolishly shared the secret technology data with steel industry people in Japan. This was widely reported but soon dropped off the headlines, however BSL has a wide network of partnerships throughout Asia with steel majors and I guess that factor bolsters their aims to dominate the sectors there. As I am not an insider and long retired anyway, I would dearly love to get the facts on just how good Colorbond is in today's markets - not just the hype, and the logic of how BSL can command a premium for it anywhere especially in the US.
BSL is my top share holding.
