If a lack of USDs is a concern than its more likely that Turkey would place a ban on the importation of gold (which has exploded over the recent past) to save their USD holdings, and allow its gold producers to export their gold in exchange for USDs. It would be in their own interests to see their goldies succeed and at least bring in some USDs rather than bankrupt them. Argentina had these issues under the previous regime but they allowed their goldies to operate with some added rules. Lots of goldies that are in transition are not doing too well on the TSX besides ALS/AQG, and that includes one of your favourites EDV.
Strange how PRU was sold down on high volume the other day when it reached 49 cents but today it doing rather well on a lower volume of shares, of course.
