This tariff on steel and aluminum is really not that much of a surprise. Its actually consistent with the Trump theme IMO.

He says that he is USA first and bringing jobs back to the USA. This new tariff may (hopefully) have the effect that the rest of the world simply does not trade steel and aluminum with the USA and that the USA relies on its own domestic steel and aluminum supply. I have not seen mention of USA imports of iron ore or bauxite?

But, what will our friends in China do? I hope that they don't retaliate with tariffs of their own.

As far as Li for batteries is concerned, IMO there is No chance of similar action by the USA Govt. Since I don't think that there is anywhere near the supply within the USA - for even the demand of Tesla.

So really , nothing has changed as far as Li and the good ship BGS is concerned IMO.
