The South Africans must be perplexed by all this. Australia having a national crisis of conscience over committing the same offence leading South African players have been convicted of. I remember when Faf Du Plessis got done for it in Australia Hashim Amla going into paroxysms of laughter about it just being "sour sweats" from the Australians because they were complaining about the alteration to the ball. There's an interview with venerable former Australian captain Alan Border on the Cricket Australia website where he says his team used to try and lift the seam (ball tamper) when not much was happening. Perhaps his record should be expunged from the game? Tendulkar would have to go too because he's been convicted of the same thing. Imagine what they would have been doing to the ball in Bradman's era when there were less cameras around. Somehow it became the crime of the century late last week.
