Yes, noted genius Warner is the mastermind behind everything, and lets re-write history and say that determined nuggety batsman and national captain Smith has always been as weak-as-water and is a known 'dill', and poor naïve, young, innocent Bancroft 'just got caught up in the moment' and fell under the influence of the evil Warner (he spoons sugar into his pockets for an on-field sugar hit: yums it up, lint and all).
The bowlers never had a clue about any of this, ever (they are 'dills' too) - only Bancroft was loitering around to overhear conversations between Smith and Warner, everyone else was off in another room - and Lehmann never had a clue either & you could see his shock and surprise in his innocent walkie-talkie chat.
