I was involved with Rugby League and many times had to make decisions about selecting half backs. One time it was very close between two young halves, one had absolutely outstanding ability the other steely tough. I had no hesitation in selecting the tough guy because he was a little cheat and would do nearly anything to win but all I wanted him to do was feed the ball into second row so we wouldn't lose the scrums because we had a weak hooker.
Truth is cunning and steely determination is part of any sport . We just need the right people overseeing this willingness to win. It takes old heads to understand how far to push the envelope.
I would look at who were managing these young men. If they didnt know they should have . They are the ones who I would looking at.
