wow - a long thread, and watso should have had the courtesy to have read every post... but watso doubts that the following has been mentioned

anyway - way back in his uni days , watso recalls reading how under the harold wilson  labor government in the UK.....

.... the same thing happened -ie  the rich got richer.

from memory, hawke/keating did not mind if the rich got richer - the idea was to make the pie bigger - so everyone got a bigger slice .
