Thanks for clarifying Inchiquin. I certainly believe that any or all of these events are possible in time. But major catastrophic events (weather, pests, fire) can occur anywhere and so cannot let these impact short-medium term investing decisions. I remember reading that 4% of BB resources and 10% of total production has been allocated to Cali. So in any such event, you would hope that this impact would be minimal (although still significant). Also, if crops in Cali are destroyed, this would effect the entire industry, and perhaps BB would be well placed to capitalise on the supply and distribution chains established, ensuring imported oil from down under makes it onto west coast US shelves.

All very interesting indeed. Shares in AAP seem to be very tightly held and there is quite a disconnect between the buys and sells - big swings on low volume seem to be the norm.
