Giving Trump credit for the rise in the stock market during 2017?
The trend was already there. It has just taken time to adjust to the reality.
Most of what is seen in the media about Trump is just noise.
The real story is the sentiment that got him there.
People voted based on their fears (real or imagined).
There are a lot of people that are not doing well out of globalization, the rising share markets and the rising debt levels.
A large portion of those "have nots" received Trump's message took stock of themselves and rightly or wrongly latched on to Trump.
There is a lot of inequality around, and an adjustment is needed.

"In fact, these tax concessions are costing the budget about six times as much as Newstart, a payment even business groups say is too low for job seekers to live on."
In business, we still need workers and for the time being those workers will be humans.
Therefore society needs to look after those humans and build them up before they are workers otherwise they will not be productive workers.
At the moment most of the benefits of globalization, the rising share markets and the rising debt levels are going to the people that are already wealthy.
The "have nots" are merely slaving away at the bottom.
We are entering a period of adjustment.
