I see Tesla more as a poster child for electric vehicles, but they are helping the storage story get traction as well. In my opinion, as long as small, medium, and large scale renewable generation keeps getting installed there will be no option but to continue installing more battery storage for network stability, rainy days, peak lopping, etc. At the moment mass consumers only know about lithium ion. Soon enough VRFBs will emerge as a technically and economically better solution for stationary storage. Then Tesla lithium won't even be in the game. If Tesla does go under, there are plenty of other car companies, especially in Europe, who will carry the torch (battery powered, of course). And those companies actually know how to mass-produce cars without losing $650M a year...
