At the time the carbon tax was axed, Australia was a world leader in renewable energy. That, as well as the reduction in the Renewable Energy Target, meant that we dropped down the list, putting us behind countries that have no where near the RE resources we have.

While it will take some time to undo the damage, I think that all sides of politics will be assessing the implications this change will have.
