Not quite understanding the question but if you:
Buy 100,000 on Jan 10 2017
Buy 100,000 on May 15 2017
Sell 100,000 on Aug 19 2017
Then the May and be matched with the Aug trade and your Jan purchase is still there.
I often have a number of similar buys and sells in a stock, and at tax time I decide how to match them up.
With imu however there are no sells yet and probably won't be for a long time.
