I must say, it is a very impressive form of downramping. "Oh look, it can be done" seems to be positive. If your reading it whilst doing a general browse it doesn't consciously register that what it is really saying is "It is so hard to break into the American market that I had to use an example with little really to do with an admixture, I had to go to a multi-disciplined company (how silly of Eden not to be hey?) and then drive home the point it took Them 30 yrs."
It's like the spamming being done about the Australian market. The posts seem so knowledgeable, the ideas so reasonable, so easy and so cheap. He seems to be positive on the product. It just doesn't fully register that it is pure bashing. The whole thing is designed to get you thinking that Eden is failing in the most basic ridiculous manner. But the fact of the matter is it's not easy or cheap. It isn't a case of if they had just come to Australia they would have been in the middle of this 'infrastructure boom' within a year making massive sales.
The only reason EdenCrete got it's foot in the door with GDoT is because of the opportunity they created. We will bring our plant to your state if you use the product. Here, we will prove it works. I think many forget just how brilliant a strategy that was to get their foot in the door of the massive, continuous American road repair market. Look at the terrible disaster that just happened with the new innovative bridge system. It highlights just how badly things can go wrong with a new idea which is why change is so difficult and time consuming in this industry.
As much as the idea of an Australian designed product being used in Australia is nice, the shipping is prohibitive and the market is small compared to the USA or S Korea. And as to why the S Korean market is so important compared to Australia, besides being 4 times the size in a tiny geographical area, look at it as a stepping stone to our wildest dreams.
