Harbour Energy boss and Santos suitor Linda Cook back in town

    by Joe Aston
It's been a while between Neil Perry's Cape Grim grass fed eye fillets, but what a day to have one – the people spotting hasn't been this lucrative since News Corp chairman Lachlan Murdoch was seen dining with then APN News & Media CEO Michael Miller days before he returned to News as its executive chairman.
And on Tuesday, Rockpool played host to another telling duo: Harbour Energy chief executive Linda Cook lunched in the dress circle with EIG Global Energy Partners' local managing director Andy Zhmurovsky (Harbour Energy is a JV between EIG and Noble).
Yes, the steak is that good it's worth flying from Houston, but somehow we doubt Cook made the trip for culinary purposes, or to see the Formula One.
Cook was last here in December, days after colleague Matthew Stevens revealed Harbour/EIG was preparing to lob an $11 billion all-cash bid for Santos. The Australian gas giant rejected a lower August offer of $4.55 per share (Santos closed Tuesday's session at $5.19) and the sweetened bid never did come about. Yet.
So, dear readers, are you thinking what I'm thinking?
