US, UK, France launch air strikes on Syria in response to chemical weapons attack

US President Donald Trump says the US, UK and France have launched "precision strikes" on targets linked to chemical weapons in Syria.
Reuters has reported several explosions have been heard in the Syrian capital of Damascus.
Smoke has also been seen rising from the area.
Syrian state TV said the US, UK and France had launched attacks.
The strikes are a response to the
alleged chemical attack which killed dozens of people in the Syrian town of Douma.
Mr Trump said the US was not seeking an "indefinite presence" in Syria.
"As other nations step up their contributions, we look forward to the day when we can bring our warriors home," he said.
