Hi PoMo,I am actually a pensioner and the test and basic AIDS are free,I don't know about govt assistance for anyone else.If I had had a choice of basic(pretty much useless AIDS I have) and boost their is no contest.Audiologist told me the govt subsidy was $1495, that fee included the testing supply and tuning of the aids(2visits)although there was a charge of $44.84 for batteries and maintenance.Yea! Not rechafgable, get maybe 8/10 days /set.Sorry no break down of audiologist charge and hearing aids but either way if you can get boosts for $6/700 they are a bargain.I do believe their are a lot of ppl out their who are putting off getting AIDS due to cost until they retire but who may well be tempted by boost.Don't have private cover since retirement and cannot comment on what Medibank or hbf and the like would possibly subsidise.
