He had enough on his plate with the debilitating disease that took hold at age 22 but was born with a brilliant mind. What courage to opt to live at all cost and not waste that superb mind. Our own Adam Spencer recounted on the News today how Hawking was on the brink of death 30 years ago expected not survive but he begged those looking after him not to turn off life support. He wanted to survive and use that mind regardless his physical condition. He did survive and has given the world an insight on just how much more there is to the world, the universe and existence.
His call for caution about artificial intelligence should not go unheeded. Machines need to be there to serve us not the other way round.
