One other point...I don't consider myself a trader. I'm a dabbler a hobbyist if you will. I'm also a bit addicted to HC (really need to sort that out fast)...it's easy to do.
I've very strict limitations on my overall exposure to the market...no more than 5% of my equity at any time and usually got way less than that in the market the vast majority of the time (like to have dedicated cash of at least 50%) as I have no trust in Mr Market other than the ability to enter and exit at will (and even that has it's limitations...perfect example flash crash day Trump won presidency...I use two trade platforms Commsec and CMC...you couldn't access either of them on a day of mad liquidity and The Force knows how many stops got taken out that day! I don't believe in coincidences either...we got banks of supercomputers in our finance institutions...so don't buy their "overwhelmed" stories...not one bit (not hard to legislate to ensure broker accounts restate punters to pre-crash holdings when it's their fault is it?).
So point is...different strokes for different folks.
