Freiberg. Almost one year after the bankruptcy of Solarworld AG, the successor to factories in Freiberg and Arnstadt has filed for bankruptcy.
600 employees now have to fear again for the future of the production of solar cells and modules in East Germany. At the request of Solarworld Industries GmbH, the District Court at Bonn's office on Tuesday appointed attorney Christoph Niering as provisional insolvency administrator.
Solarworld spokesman Albrecht Handke told the SZ in the evening on request, in the two factories is currently working normally. The employees present were informed about the bankruptcy. The company reacts with the request for "further lower prices". In addition, the European Commission wants to phase out the tariffs against Chinese competing products. Solarworld had repeatedly advocated such protective tariffs.
The insolvency of Solarworld AG in May last year alone cost 700 jobs in Freiberg. Company founder Frank Asbeck, together with partners from the Emirate of Qatar, bought the two German factories out of the bankruptcy estate and passed them on as a limited liability company. In September, he announced that, thanks to good demand, he was hiring 77 new employees and using temporary workers from Trenkwalder.
