Conclusion: so far they have only done the easy part of the project.
Australia needs to avoid Japan crowing about their zero emissions economy when, or if, in fact all they have done is shift the problem here.
The off-shore depleted gas fields might be a good choice. The sand structure that held the gas, is beautifully clean and porous, so plenty of high pressure CO2 could be stored there. (The natural gas was held for millions of years so why not?).
It just won't be cheap, but probably within the bounds of possibility.
