a question for the older/wiser heads re AVB
are there periods of the mining cycle when there are t/o frenzies with the bigger fish snapping up all the smaller prospects? Could OZL t/o offer of AVB signal the start of one of these frenzies? BHP and RIO were in the papers a few months ago saying that the way they wanted to target the EV boom was through copper and nickel and I'm wondering if its time to start looking at attractive smaller players. I hold CZI and VXR which have varying mixes of copper/nickel/zinc/gold/cobalt deposits and CZI already has an OZL tie but just wondering if its worth getting set in a few others.
cheers

Not necessarily an old head... but yes, I think we will start to see some more take over offers of the coys with the more quality assets and upside resource potential. Particularly those in the the base metal scene (and probably gold) as many commodities have bottomed and are now in an overall upward trajectory trend. Raises the question why it doesn't happen more in the bottom of a cycle but it's probably a fair bit to do with coy's going into self preservation mode whilst prices are depressed. Many mid-caps are now starting to build up their war chests as their margins have improved so the natural cycle of splurging money comes back into play.
I'm sure you will see this with CZI too but probably not before the feasibility studies come in proving the economics of the project. More so look for the small(er) producers sitting on reasonably large resources that can be easily scaled up to improve project economics imo.

I should also add - I wouldn't be basing any investment on the hope that a take over might occur... as reality is, it may never happen. But sure, I think with some investigative skills, you can probably narrow down those that may be of interest to the bigger players and use that as a part-basis to form your decision. Things to consider that could possibly provide clues - locality, JV's, current ownership/investments % of other listed coy's, commodity types, common board members or directors, common sub holders etc etc.
