I was just about to start a thread but will just add to this.
I am absolutely dumbfounded at the direction League has taken this year. I have never held with the theory that the game has been ruined in recent years. I enjoy the fast pace and non stop action and what happens from that. The game tonight was no different to most of the games already played this year. You expect some scrappy play early in the year but the quality of the games has been completely ruined by the stop start nature of this new edict. We all know that teams crib a bit off the line but this interpretation has changed the whole game.
I am unsure whether the players will adjust and the game will get back to what it was, but I suspect the refs will have to subtly revert and let the game be the game.
I think it has made the games a raffle and virtually unwatchable. Don't really know if results would have been different under old rules but we are certainly not seeing free flowing quality football. This will turn people of RL very quickly...........
