On days like this, I find it useful to call up the SP chart for last 6 or 12 months. The upward trajectory always has periods of decline, particularly following days where there has been strong appreciation. Somehow the picture always better reminds me of this fact.

On a second point, we have been calling for greater institutional support. Now that we appear to be getting it (see daily trade volumes); we must expect greater volatility as they go about managing beneficial entry points.
