I wear them on long walks with my dog and never had a problem with the sound of my steps. I have had the touch control activated by some leaves on a tree - the controls are very sensitive. I would suggest manually adjusting the amount of world on or off for each setting in the app. It's normal to hear your own voice amplified as well but not footsteps. It is also a good idea to get a reasonably tight fit in your ears and even if you think they fit well it might be worth trying different tips or pushing the tip in more snugly into ear canal.
