Hotcopper is, at best, an amusement. At worst it's a place for ppl's ego (mine included!). The phenomenon of ppl building up and supporting their view of the world by social media is alive and well in here. The construction of an opinion based edifice of "facts" by many ppl doesn't make it right, just self satisfying.
There are many worthwhile opinions vented in here, but very little fact. Wishing for something because it supports your view is a well known psychological condition (decisional dissidence), so cannot be relied upon to act as unbiased advice.
RFG has hit a very large bump in the road. Labelling its debt as a major issue (it isn't, it's interest cover and debt ratio is fine, regardless of covenants), or the fact they are going to close 200 shops (way below the failure rate across the business world, where the real figure should be over 1,200 stores over 3 years), or using the original media hatchet job to prove the business is dead (people still believe what they read?) is just an opportunity for others to buy very cheaply. Of course, all of the above has had a real affect; it's not all unfounded concern. However, the business is doing ok (the major loss being a non cash write down due to the above and legacy issues around closures.).
Any rational assessment of the current SP shows this is cheap right now. The market will decide, of course. Let the dust settle and watch this one. DYOR!
