You are right - illiterate is not stupid it's another ad hominem/personal attack and we should not use them.
Lots of literate lawyers lie and obsfucate, most good sense lies in ordinary people and grammar and spelling are just one way for rich people to convince themselves they are better.
When obviously people are the same and it's the same as it has been since Adam Smith's day - lawyers just helping them out with their vile maxim.
