* There are patented algorithms that can detect "more than 20 different arrhythmias". The algorithms are not public, and will take time to reverse engineer or replicate.

* Medical devices require a high quality level, and the ability of companies to cooperate with regulatory audits in order to remain in production. No cheap knock off device is going to match this need.
