    This copper foil method is not new, the problem is that bulk (tonnes) quantity is prohibitively expensive, and then you end up with graphene on foil, not graphene. Further etching of the copper adds to the expense and I believe environmental impacts on a commercial scale would have to be considered also.

    Disclaimer, this is entirely non-professional knowledge on my behalf, just going off what I read and remembered.

    It seems like they've progressed an already established method of depositing graphene onto copper to a process which continuously rolls it out.

    ps. If you do the math on the surface area they can produce per unit of time, and how much graphene in a single layer weighs over that area, extrapolate how long it'd take to produce a tonne... even with 100 machines working... It'll be a looooong unit of time.
