Just because another company is pegging ground near another, doesn't automatically mean there will be a joint venture. When people post in regards to a company with information they should include the link or the person they obtained the information from for other holders to research it as well.
Also those who say that the SP will be a certain price by a certain time, that is just foolish and if people buy shares due to that are even more foolish. A fool and his money are soon parted.
Ramping a stock up or down will not go away but being alert to it can improve your decision making and may ultimately save you money.
How do you identify ramping? Others may wish to add to this.
Some ways may include:
1. Putting spin on a positive or negative announcement.
2. Use of words like multibagger.
3. Selective answering of questions. If a poster questions good or bad news and then is quickly attacked by other posters.
4. Posts saying I spoke with xxx the other day... and, the information offered is market sensitive and not announced via ASX announcements.
What can you do?
1. DYOR and Challenge their statements, not by personal attack, but by asking questions. If those ramping dont answer you can at least be alert to their posts.
2. Ask the moderator/site admin to clarify what constitutes ramping, the sites policy, and how they apply the policy if ramping is detected or suspected.
3. Ask the poster politely for the source of their information
4. Go to the members profile and see whether they only post on one particular stock.
5. If its really of concern, send the text to the company in question and ask if its accurate. Good companies wont want inaccurate information disseminated via any medium.
6. Contact ASIC if the behaviour is persistent and ask what steps they take to monitor activity.
7. Ignore it all
8. Leave the site
These are my observations on KRC and other companies I have seen in topics on Hotcopper. Please query comments made by holders of both positive and negative posts, and not follow like sheep.
