Quantify offers first look at smart building devices

Perth based smart building technology company, Quantify Technology Holdings (ASX: QFY) – which made a backdoor listing on the ASX in March has taken the wraps of its core product, the Q Device for control of in-building electrical devices, posting videos that is says offer the first look at the devices.

The two videos feature Quantify’s director of enterprise solutions David Barker and state manager for NSW, Rick Cubito, demonstrating installation of the devices in a luxury apartment block in the Sydney CBD, the Portico built on top of the former Scots Church in York Street.

However the videos offer little information on the features of the Q Device and Quantify appears to be rather coy about the precise functions of its technology. The Technology section of its web site abounds with vague phrases about the capabilities of the technology, but is remarkably short of specifics.
Q Devices replace either light switches of power points, making installation simple. Q devices are configured by the insertion of a ‘feature card’ and controlled from a smartphone app.
Quantify says the demonstration represents a critical stage for the company and is a significant step towards commercialisation of the platform.

“The entire system was installed at a fraction of the cost and in less than half the time it would take for any competitor—who would also offer less functionality,” it says.
Barker said the demonstration provide the technology could be retrofitted to any building and the technology offered greater control over energy management.
In March this year Quantify announced that the Q Devices had gaining Australian and New Zealand certification for conformance with class-licensed RF spectrum.

Earlier this month the company scored a major win, announcing a contract to supply 2,000 -2,5000 Q Devices for the 100 townhouses under construction for the Mantra Wallaroo Shores Resort being developed in South Australia.
It said there was the possibility of selling an additional 13,500 devices generating revenue in excess of $2 million over the life of the development.

“This is the first stage of an estimated $220 million development by Copper Coast Investments at its Wallaroo Shores site, and Quantify Technology’s platform will be exclusively promoted and installed throughout the entire development: approximately 656 residential dwellings—including 134 retirement apartments—and a mixed use precinct,” Quantify said.

It also announced at the end of July that it was supplying Q Device to the University of Western Australia for installation in the Medical and Dental Library.
