New medical research paper says when Penthrox is used in operating room staff who treated patients were not exposed to high levels of methoxyflurane. I have previously read comments from medical staff concerned about their exposure to methoxyflurane exhaled by patients. So this paper is important research to show Penthrox is safe to use within hospitals.
Research title: Occupational exposure to methoxyflurane administered for sedation: a study of 40 exposures.
Conclusion: Methoxyflurane exposure levels for all staff during bone marrow biopsy lists using Penthrox inhalers for procedural sedation were well below the calculated maximum exposure limit.
