there is nothing wrong with paraplegics doing their best and sport sure should be encouraged .
watso only (except for the wheelchair race and the odd other one - but cannot recall them) watched a few of the para swimming events - in-between the normal swimming events .
seriously, but there is no equal playing field in the para swimming . watso seems to recall one swimming event where the australian girl won gold - but she had all of her hands and feet - but she was disabled from the point of view of some early onset of whatever - and she took up swimming .
the australian girl got out of the pool - and was interviewed by the channel 7 commentator - but for one of the contestants - there was a wheelchair waiting for her as she got out of the pool - that was probably the dark skinned girl who took a day to finish the race .
maybe other girls had half a leg, or arm missing - watso forgets now
to watso , that gold medal was meaningless . ok - sure it meant something to the girl who won the race.
but the 3 wheeled chair race (or whatever it is called) was awesome - that is a race that should have been open to everybody - simply make it a part of the normal olympic schedule ..... a race where paraplegics could compete equally with able bodied Olympians
