Great analysis is out of control as posters don't get its real purpose and are abusing it IMO and I am guessing very few have ever read your note on it.
Please just smile and don't mod this one as it helps other posters understand motivations of some posters

Perhaps only posters with a certain number of posts or thumb to post ratio should be able to click the button and then it might represent something. At the minute you can just put a pumping post in a hot sector stock with lots of traffic and bang you get .........motza GA.
Limit it so you can only give 1 GA a week and only posters of a certain standard or status like 12 months and posts ?

Any of these would actually give GA some value otherwise it becomes another sheep popularity contest used by those to fleece the newbies.

With reference to thumbs are you aware that some people are specifically encouraging posters to thumb up announcements to get on Top rated post and also encouraging others to do short frequent posts - the most loved stock list every day early mornings ? A rash of day traders not posting on a stock or one posting once and a lot of other day traders giving the thumb up on the stock thread. Why do announcements have a thumb up option?

Just a shame thumbs , post numbers and now GA are being used as a strategy . I know it is numbers game running the site but quality counts.

Since you will read this there is another issue. Mods getting chased away from posting on stocks. Some mods have great experience but continue to get flak just because they are mods with allegation of bias etc etc . Mods already have the rules that they can't own a stock they moderate on. They shouldn't be burdened with either extra kudos because they are a mod or victimised for same so somehow they should be allowed to have a 2nd login within which they moderate anonymously. then just be another poster on their own login and they can report just like anyone else when not on shift etc?.

The IOT and EDE are the classic examples off the top of my head in the recent past
