    A2M doesn't have a patent on the A2 protein itself, only the process it uses to determine that a cow only has the A2 protein. You can't patent the A2 protein.

    This appears to be Nestle's attempt to enter the A2 market, which means they see legitimacy in the A2 concept and have their eye on A2M. If their product fails to gain any traction, they could simply buy A2M outright. They are a A$300b+ company, so a $15b acquisition would be relative chump change for them.
