What a media beat up.
I did some research this morning on best sellers for online Infant Formula in China in 2018, sourced from 21024.net (I'm not sure how good the stats are, but can't be worst than the one published on NZ herald yesterday), with A2 3rd stage comes in at No.6 so far in 2018, and last 30 days No.1 at 21853 transactions.
This source is much more creditable: According to Chinese Customs, Infant Formula imports for January 2018: (Y-o-Y growth)
- Netherlands 70.16MT down 42.3%
- Germany 29.48MT up 113.2%
- Ireland 23.09MT down 20.9% (which includes Wyeth Illuma)
- France 15.27MT up 13%
- New Zealand 31.03MT up 77.1% (16% Market share)
- Australia has 12.375MT or 4.2% of the market share, but I don't have growth number.
Growth figure basically confirm which "brand" is increasing/decreasing sales.
Mums just don't change IF from brand to brand easily, and A2M was mainly growing due to "word of month" and its reputation, and with extra marketing spending, I'm sure more Mums will hear the benefit of A2 IF. I wouldn't mind if A2M bring out a "market update" next month for the first 3 month of 2018, or better still, change to quarterly reporting.
