Thanks for your time and effort.
We cannot ignore what Thomas was told following John in ch 14, not to mention the rest of 14 further along re the comforter section where Jesus says, both he and the Father
(two of) will make their abode with them.
Going by what Thomas would have been told and as shown, doubted, it's likely he also doubted some of Ch 14 following or not understood it as clearly he didn't understand or believe Jesus would be made alive.
John 14:
5. Thomas saith unto him,
Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8. Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
John 20:
20. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
21. But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
26. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
So what was doubting Thomas told beforehand = That the God and Father dwelt in Jesus = Yes.
Who did the disciples say they saw - God = No.
Did the disciples say they saw the Lord = Yes.
What was it that Thomas didn't believe - Was it that he didn't believe the Lord hadn't risen, alive = Yes.
Was the key evidence Thomas wanted to prove the Lord was alive was to see and touch his hands etc = Yes.
After 8 days Jesus comes along and without talking to Thomas, he immediately starts addressing his none belief, is it possible one of the disciples told Jesus prior = Possible and probable.
Is it possible that perhaps Jesus already knew via The Spirit as other scriptures show he knew things without literally seeing them = Yes.
Did Thomas get the evidence he needed = Yes.
Was that evidence going to prove that God was alive = No.
Did Thomas or any of the others think or where they ever told, that God would die on the cross = No.
Did Thomas now believe that the Lord had risen and now alive = Yes.
Would Thomas now realize and believe that ALL Jesus had told him was true = Yes.
Would that include that the God & Father was in Jesus = Yes.
So could Thomas then look at Jesus and say My Lord = Yes.
And Knowing The Father God was in Jesus and knowing it was the Father responsible for Jesus being made alive because all that Jesus had said, would it be logical/respectful that Thomas would also say, and My God referring to God within Jesus right here and now = Yes.
Did Jesus frequently talk about his God and Father = Yes.
