The point I was making on your last point here was, (the blessed part) we can at times look at a verse and see it a certain way, but in fact when we have a good look, pause so to speak, it's not saying what we thought.
It wasn't to pick at you, I've done it myself and often.
---------------
In light of the claim and more would have been said, intended - it was said and in the context of the doubting Thomas, it didn't need repeating where he says, My Lord etc, as it would be considered obvious if one was truly getting and digesting John prior, it should be jumping out at you.
John 14:5-11
5. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8. Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
Next is how Jesus shows the Father, but one "has" to consider what Jesus had told them prior;
John 5:30 - I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
Acts 2:22 makes it very "clear", it was God that was actually doing the miracles through Jesus.
10. Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
So the clear message, you need to believe me because "I" could not do these things.
John 20:27-29
27. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (Thomas effectively being brought down a peg haha).
So doubting Thomas now comes to the realization that everything that Jesus had been telling them "as covered above" was True, including that God is IN Jesus, you might say - the stage was set leading up to The Verse, the obvious outcome!
John 11:27 - She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
So Thomas as the above evidence shows is aware Jesus is their Lord, so looking at the literal Jesus, he says - My lord and now believing all that was said is true, including that God was "dwelling IN" Jesus, Thomas says, "and my God", clearly referring to the one IN Jesus.
As I see it, bases on the Bible, that is the clear and intended message of this section and that is without using ALL of John which nails it Big time.
I could also put up anther view, which would be more probable than the trinity version, backed by the Bible and THAT doesn't make Jesus the Almighty God & Father either but that one would dig up the debate as to exactly when Jesus was exalted, which I will not play with here haha.
