    Correct. If you borrow money, and the stock goes below a figure fixed by the lender, there will indeed be margin calls.


    Many people don't fix their own stop losses though, they take the advice of brokers.

    (Anyway I'm watching the RC on the banks live...compelling viewing and I'm a bit distracted.)
