Shorting. This can be used as part of a wider accumulation strategy, either by the same party or related parties.
Then there are the smaller players, riding in the slipstream of the big boys. Algorithymic trading will be used to disguise the ultimate aim, which is to drive the Shareprice down, on low volumes and sustain that, in order to get cheap shares.
A favourite activity is for frequent posters to say: look at the Shareprice, the market doesn't lie!
The SP tells the entire story, etc etc.
Whereas the market is quite obviously, far from transparent.
