Downdip definition: Pertaining to a position parallel to or in the direction of the dip of a stratum or bed.
The DOF is at about a 35 degree angle underground, which they drilled towards at a 55 degree angle (away from parallel to ground) to intersect it perpendicularly. The 600m is the length of the DOF from surface, not a vertical depth of 600m (which is closer to ~350m for that length and angle).
