The criteria for a sophisticated investor is annual income of $250k+ or $2.5mill in assets.
Somewhere I've read that at least 10% of Australians have $2.5 mill in assets. Let's be conservative and say 5% of Australians are eligible to be "sophisticated investors". Then they need to have $100k to invest. Let's say that drops it down to 2%. That is still a target market of 500,000 people. These people have lots of investable money and need thier money invested somehow.
Watching thier webinar, they are aiming for $1b FUM. I really don't see any issue at all. They haven't ruled out setting up a fund for retail investors down the track.
Sorry if they don't cater towards you, there are plenty of other fund managers who do, such as Wilson. This fund manager is for niche clients who are high value customers.
