Sally McManus appears to be the leader of the Search Foundation says it seeks to build a “democratically socialist and ecologically sustainable Australia”, and supports “many radical and progressive movements and causes”.

Ms McManus is a Labor Party member and formerly NSW branch secretary of the ALP-affiliated Australian Services Union, insiders claim her political sympathies are close to the Greens and she is friendly with hardliners such as NSW senator Lee Rhiannon.

The Search Foundation has a strong association with many old Australian communist family dynasties, most notably the third-generation family now headed by Brian Aarons.

The foundation inherited up to $5 million in funds and assets from the former CPA. Much of its wealth came from communists who left their estates to the party over the decades.

Some estimate the foundation’s assets have grown to $15m, at the disposal of the organisation’s board to fund cherished causes from environmentalism, indigenous affairs to refugee welfare and women’s rights.

Ms McManus was accused by Coalition frontbencher Christopher Pyne last week of “anarcho-Marxist claptrap” for saying she had “no problem” with breaking laws considered “unjust”.

It was said that Ms McManus told the Greens mayor of an inner-west Sydney council in 2011 that she vigorously supported the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel — contrary to ALP and ACTU policy.

In early public comments since taking over from Dave Oliver this month, Ms McManus has signalled the ACTU must tackle a chronic decline in union membership.

With a different leadership style and anticipated influx of new blood joining Ms McManus at the ACTU, some union insiders are concerned she might divert considerable campaign resources to issues consistent with the Search Foundation’s causes.

While the Search Foundation has direct links to the former Communist Party of Australia many of its adherents also support the hard Left of the ALP and union movement and the Greens have had a say in Victorian ALP policy too to stop East West Link which would result in the movement of Greens and ALP voters out if that safe seat and possibly affecting both Date & Federal elections.

A colleague who worked on Search Foundation projects with Ms McManus said that Sally had a history of working with “Greens oriented people”.it seems, so imo is she could be just another snake in the Grass Greens who has inflitrated the ACTU I wonder?
