Well as i understand it there are 2 types of shorts.....those done via CFD's and those done via borrowing stock......the CFD providers will generally give you your gains when the company outright delists but for those that borrowed stock from a fund manager they will need to send the stock back to the fund they borrowed from before the deal is closed......this is why delisted will buy your stock......they have a market for it in some cases.

I understand that the fund ownership of this stock was negigible and as such no meanful stock borrowing happened, so i doubt there are any short positions that have anything material to worry about
