This week's disclosure that Myer has recruited Korda Mentha's Mark Korda to help it in its attempt to renegotiate leases with its landlords reflects the increased urgency with which the group, without a permanent chief executive after the abrupt exit of Richard Umbers, is trying to respond to the narrow margins for error it now has after the swingeing write-downs earlier this year.
